Natural jute fibres are coloured with vegetable dyes and then braided tightly and stitched into these marvelous open baskets which are great for indoor plants, laundry, and any other kind of storage. Their production and final disposal will have no negative impact on the environment.

They are made by women with disabilities in a fine fair trade organisation in south India. Each woman learns a skill and then uses it to earn her living, contribute to family income and in some cases pay for the education of siblings or nephews and nieces.

These baskets represent the very best of fair trade products in that they provide opportunities for marginalised people, they are eco-friendly, use local raw materials and are contemporary and stylish and made to a high standard.
