These delightful small baskets are made of natural jute fibres, braided together and then handstitched into baskets. They are made by women with disabilities in a fair trade organisation called Integrated Development Trust in South India. The women earn their livelihood making baskets,bowls and mats from jute fibre and go on to contribute to family income with their earnings.

These little baskets are perfect for sweets or treats and could also be used for trinkets. They nicely match the jute fruit bowls, placemats and coaster sets shown in the picture below.

Jute is an ecologically sound raw material which when combined with hand sewing makes for products that have no negative environmental impact.
